SUPERSTAR
Peter Kotilainen, one of the brightest stars in the world of floorball, is a unique player. Kotilainen is a winner by nature and hates losing above all else. This could be of course said about many top-level players but, however, Peter’s hunger for victory and goals is at a level that distinguishes this man from Jyväskylä from almost everyone else. The yard games played with his older brothers (who also have played in big roles in the Finnish Floorball League) gave Peter the never-give-up mentality that we can enjoy today.
Pete, who is already a two-time World Champion, wants to be the best player in the sport he loves. This can be seen on the field from night to night as an exceptional combination of will and skill. The result is often ruthless for the opponents. “Börsday” is a saying created by Pete himself. It means a game where he scores multiple points. Usually, “börsdays” are simply all the days when Pete has a match. As a result, Pete has been on the top spots of the Finnish Floorball League player statistics for years. In the season 2018-2019, Pete finally took his own, being number one with a tremendous points of 37 + 36 = 73.
In the 2016 World Championships, where Finland took the gold medals, Pete punished Sweden with two goals in the final, was first in goal and point scoring statistics and was crowned the MVP of the tournament. In the annual list of the best players in the world by Swedish Innebandymagazinet, Pete was fourth in 2018. At the same time, Pete was rated the best striker in the world for the first time. Thus, Rasmus Enström and Alexander Galante Carlström, among others, were left behind.
As a human being, Pete is a unique personality and leaves no one cold. The youngest of the Kotilainen’ brothers arouses interest and opinions everywhere he goes, as big stars and, above all, big personalities always do. In addition to her phenomenal floorball skills, Pete has entertained his audience throughout his career for example with confusing interviews and direct comments. For example, in the 2014 Champions Cup, the legendary comment “hotel sleep now” is probably one of the best-known flying phrases in the floorball world.

What makes you a Floorball Nerd?
I think floorball is the best sport in the world. I have spent so much time playing floorball that I guess it’s fair to call me a Floorball Nerd.
Why is floorball a pleasure (as we like to say here at Floorball Nerds)?
Even as a young boy, floorball was a getaway for me. There I didn’t have to think about nasty things. Floorball is my life.
